Mashiah Bullets

M

“Mashiah will conquer the entire world without firing a single bullet.” Rabbi Nachman of Breslov

“Hillel used to say: Be of the students of Aaron; love peace and pursue peace, love the creations and draw them close to the Torah.” — Avot 1:12

I don’t mind if Hebrews call him Mashiah or Moshiach, or if the English call him Messiah or Anointed. And if the Greeks choose to call him Christos, which in their language means “anointed”, that’s their affair. As long as the real one comes!!!

Until he shows himself, I believe we should strive to behave as if he is already here! For the prophets and sages have already given us many teachings about how things will be in the times of Mashiah, and those are what we must follow.

1. Observance of the Law

It is no good complaining why others don’t obey God’s laws when our first concern should be that we ourselves keep His laws and teachings. We must abide by the Seven Universal Laws and the law of the land, striving to follow the guidance we have received from the prophets.

2. Torah study

Proper observance of the Torah depends on regular Torah study, each according to their level.

3. Prayer, Meditation and Devotion

Connection and attachment to God, which is the goal of Mashiah (“for the world will be filled with the knowledge of HaShem like the waters cover the seas” Isaiah 11:9) depend upon regular prayer and meditation.

4. Going in His ways

“But you shall surely guard all this commandment that I am instructing you to perform, to love the Lord your God, to go in all His ways and to be devoted to Him.”
(Deuteronomy 11:22)

“To go in all His ways” – He is compassionate, so you be compassionate; He bestows kindnesses, so you bestow kindnesses. (Rashi)

Those who aspire to be attached to Mashiah must follow the “way of the earth” (Derech Eretz), which is to show respect, love and kindness to all people, including even one’s enemies, except to those who are out to kill, destroy, rob or spoil, who must be treated with the full force of Justice under the Seventh Universal Law to establish a system of justice. Justice must reign in society, government, judiciary, police, business, finance, commerce and all other areas.

5. Holistic, earth-friendly lifestyle

For our own wellbeing and for the welfare of future generations on earth, we should enjoy what we have without taking more than we need or wasting our own or others’ resources. One should aspire to an holistic, earth-friendly lifestyle with healthy diet and proper exercise and other healthcare practices.

6. Personal purity and family life

God’s law instructs us to guard our personal purity, abstaining from forbidden relationships and activities. A healthy, loving, nurturing family framework is the foundation for bringing up future generations of good citizens of God’s earth

7. Freedom from the mass media

We must throw off the tyranny of the mass media, which are the tool of the unscrupulous few to control the minds and thoughts of the many. We must learn from the wise and think and reason for ourselves in order to find the true way.

8. Sabbaths, New Moons and Festivals

Celebration of the Sabbaths, New Moons & Festivals by Israel with the acknowledgement and support of the nations of the world will free us from the idolatry of technology and wealth, enabling the world to return to God.
